THE ESSENTIAL LITERATURE LEAGUE EMAIL LISTS
How to use, and codes of conduct

GLOBAL GUIDELINES

These lists are text only lists; please do not send any attachments, or pictures embodied in emails, to any of the lists.

Misuse, or abuse, of any list will result in instant and permanent suspension. This includes, but is not restricted to: personal attacks on any co-member; spamming; unauthorised soliciting (see below); or any other misuse for which the lists were not intended. The decision of T.E.L.L. is final.

Joining T.E.L.L. means being automatically subscribed to the
HQ list.

No posting of subject matter or views that can be construed as racism, hate, rape, discrimination, paedophilia, bestiality, under age sex, incest, or any other illegal activity. Please also note that discussions on the subjects of politics and religion are not allowed.

Be respectful. Remember that the views and opinions of others may not match yours. If you disagree, then do so politely and constructively. That said, vigorous discussion is always welcome!

Views and/or opinions expressed by subscriber(s) remain solely the views of that person or persons and do not, as a consequence of being posted on this list, automatically form the views or opinions of T.E.L.L., its moderators, or its members. That said, list posts are copyright of T.E.L.L., and cannot be used, or copied, without permission.

LIST SUB-GUIDELINES

HQ

This list is used by T.E.L.L. for giving out important information and notices relevant to the lists and to subscribers. You can reply to it, but your message will be automatically directed to CHAT so that any further discussion/comment can take place there. Any attempt by subscribers to send to the
HQ list won’t appear. If you have any official information pertinent to writers and readers of erotica, please send a request to admin (at) literature-league.com and it will be considered for posting.

CHAT

This is an open forum. Subject matter is whatever you may choose it to be, subject to the global guidelines for these lists. The point is to provide a forum for informal, enjoyable chat, even if that involves in-depth or heated debate. The key is to be constructive, and to respect everyone's genuine point of view, so don't set out to upset, antagonise, or otherwise disrespect fellow members. You'll be suspended if you do. You can make announcements of new releases and post notices of publishing success, press releases, etc., but you cannot solicit your work or services.

LAB

This is our writers' workshop. Subscribing to
LAB gives you the opportunity to post completed works, or even works in progress, for comment and critique by other members. It also allows you - if you choose - to comment or give critique to posted works of others (we encourage this). You can also use LAB to request help or assistance with any kind of problem that is writing related.

When posting work to
LAB, it is preferable to post completed works or chapters only if you seek critique, although you can post passages, paragraphs or excerpts if you require technical assistance on a writing problem or issue. If your completed work is novel or novella length, post it chapter by chapter and give others time to give their comment/critique on one chapter before posting another.

Any comment or critique given must be constructive; it must help the author, whether it is negative or positive. If you feel something is wrong, please don't simply say that; say WHY, constructively. Similarly, if you do enjoy something, say why. If you can't be constructive about a post, then it's best not to comment or critique. Any critique given must also be constructive and use examples to back up your views and help the author. Don't forget, the aim is to enhance the skills of everyone, and help them develop as writers!

If you critique/edit another member's work/writing or give advice/assistance to anyone with a problem or issue, please bear in mind that as a condition of membership of this list you are, in effect, gifting that advice to the person requesting it and therefore have no claim to copyright for any kind of help, practical or literary.

If you are the recipient of any form of critique/editing or advice/help, it is up to you what you do with that advice. T.E.L.L. does not warrant that any advice you receive will in fact help you. While it's not expected for anyone to give bad advice, you use it at your own behest.

T.E.L.L. reserves the right to unsubscribe any subscriber felt in breach of any of the above guidelines and/or subguidelines. Their decision is final.
